Week 1 NFL Survivor Pool Picks and Advice: Official Selections from Three Former Winners

$60 in Free Picks

Howdy, folks. Here we are with our first official picks of the 2016-17 season as we offer Week 1 NFL Survivor Pool picks and advice from three former pool winners. We are posting this information on Thursday this week, but moving forward you will have to sign up for our newsletter on the left hand side of this page to get the picks on Thursday. Otherwise we will post these on the blog as the top story on Saturday, in plenty of time for you to get your picks up before your pool deadline.

Also, as a special deal for SurvivorPoolPicks.com readers, get $60 worth of free NFL or NCAA betting picks from a trusted handicapper with 40+ years of experience. These are the same picks members pay for, and there is no salesman and no credit card needed. Click Here for this special offer.

From the time we send out the picks on Thursday until we post them on the blog Saturday, we reserve the right to change our picks due to late-breaking injury news. So the picks posted on the blog on Saturday will be the official picks we will go into the weekend with. Of course, if we use Thursday games then those can’t be changed.

Each expert will use four cards over the course of the season. Once a team loses then that card will be dead and will be noted in the string. We always advise to use multiple cards, and we normally play four entries in our main Survivor Pool, so we will be using the same picks that we will be playing ourselves.

Without further ado, here are our Week 1 NFL Survivor Pool picks and advice for opening weekend:

Jeremy Martin

Card 1: Kansas City

Card 2: Seattle

Card 3: Houston

Card 4: Kansas City

Analysis: I have soured a bit towards Seattle as the week has gone on. I’m actually 50/50 on Seattle and KC, so I will use the Chiefs on two cards as they will be the less popular pick than Seattle. I think the Chiefs are a 10- or 11-win team and should be as strong as Seattle record-wise but I think the Dolphins are probably a better team than San Diego so that is why I am using KC on two cards.

Kyle McCarthy

Card 1: Seattle

Card 2: Houston

Card 3: Seattle

Card 4: Houston

Analysis: We take four different cards for our newsletter, and some weeks we are all in on one or two games. This happens to be one of those weeks as the football schedule gods gave us two games we cannot say no to. Seattle is my top play as a new head coach will have the Dolphins improved by season’s end, but this is too early to find success in one of the toughest NFL stadiums for opponents. I also think this Texans-Bears game is a mismatch and I think the spread should be closer to -8 or -9.

Card 2: Baltimore

Card 3: Kansas City

Card 4: Houston
